LOS ANGELES, January 23, 2025 – The team at Portrait Creative Network and John Ridley’s NO Studios are partnering to support filmmakers who have been impacted by the fires.
The LA Fire Support Community is a new group on the Portrait app dedicated to sharing resources for those impacted by the fires. The community will be a vetted space for entertainment professionals to exchange equipment, resources, and opportunities with one another. The group is now live in the Portrait app for Portrait members to join. Those who would like to take part in the group and are not currently members can request to join Portrait for free at onportrait.com/LASC.
Portrait has also aggregated resources to support the LA community beyond the remit of Portrait’s professional membership at onportrait.com/LAfires. Resources include links to donation centers, relief funding, and more.
“In a time of extraordinary heartbreak and human loss, I’ve been encouraged by the outpouring of our incredible community to support each other,” said Ridley. “I’m hoping that this group helps offer one more tangible way for us to come together and provide much-needed equipment and other resources to those who need it.”
“We built Portrait because we believe in the power of creative people coming together, especially in times of massive industry change,” said Jean Ellen Cowgill, Portrait’s founder and CEO. “We hope this effort helps entertainment professionals support one another and their art through the months of uncertainty and rebuilding ahead.”
Portrait is free to join and open to senior leaders across media and entertainment. Since the app’s launch in 2023, Portrait has grown into a community of over 12,000 vetted members including artists, executives, and department heads. Over 80% of projects at Sundance, SXSW, and Tribeca last year were made by Portrait members.
